Take back your life. You own what happens to you; you are responsible for your own happiness.

Why do so many people believe this is untrue? Your happiness is within your power. You set your goals, choose what you do every minute of every day. If you have long stretches of your day where this is not possible, then you need to revisit who has power over you. You need to tip the balance back to you. This is the only way you can fully live. Otherwise, you will remain in a zombie-like limbo, letting life happen to you instead of making your life happen.

Make your life happen.

Don’t blame someone else for what is lacking in your life. If your life doesn’t look the way you want, change it. No excuses. No matter what your personality is like – extroverted or introverted – it is within your power to live the life of your dreams.

How can you do this?

    ■ Realize your own self-worth.
    ■ Compare yourself only to yourself, not to others. Measure only your successes, your talents. Look only at how you spend your time and don’t worry about what others are doing.
    ■ Set clear intentions of where you will go in your life. First, take a good long look at who you are as a person and what it is you want out of this brief life. See your goals in smaller increments (instead of saying you want to write a book and scaring yourself silly, worry only about writing the outline or the first chapter today).
    ■ Reserve time every day for reflection: Meditation, prayer, quiet interludes. If you don’t take time to listen to yourself, how will you know what you want?
    ■ Set a schedule. Don’t leave dream-catching for tomorrow, because tomorrow never comes. Consider what small steps you can take each day to move closer to your dreams.
    ■ Feel proud of who you are and what you have already done in your life.
    ■ Focus on positivity in all aspects of your life – the people around you, your own talents, things that happen. Don’t jump to bitterness, jealousy, anger, resentment, negativity. Be glad for everything. Just be glad.
    ■ Remember that you only get so many days to walk around on this earth before tragedy or illness befalls you. Enjoy your healthy, sunny days now while you still can.
    ■ NO EMPTY DREAMING. If you want to do something in your life, DO IT.
